Believe it or not, winter is right around the corner. This long, cold season can wreak havoc on a poorly maintained vehicle. If you want to beat the cold this year, here are a few tips for winter car service.
- Resolve performance issues. If you are experiencing any performance issues, such as rough idling, stalling, or difficult starts, get these issues taken care of before the winter weather sets in.
- Keep up your maintenance. Be sure to continue following the recommended maintenance schedule laid out in your owner’s manual. If you’ve fallen behind, get caught up.
- Check your wiper blades. If your wiper blades are cracked, leaving streaks, or stuttering, they likely need to be replaced. As winter gets closer, consider switching to rubber-clad winter blades. In addition, use winter windshield washer fluid to help prevent freezing.
- Make sure your heater and defroster work. You don’t want to get stuck in a freezing cold car or be unable to clear the fog from your windshield. Have your HVAC system checked to make sure everything is in good working order.
