Winter is here and that means it’s time to prep your car, if you haven’t already, that is. The proper preparation can allow you to make through another winter without an expensive repair or any major problems. Take it from us here at Mangold Ford! Here are some winter service tips to keep your car in pristine condition during the coldest time of the year.
- Replace Filters. Keeping your engine in tip top shape requires good ventilation. Clogged, dirty filters simply won’t work. Be sure to replace the air, fuel, and PCV filters at least twice a year. Doing so will result in an overall better running engine and better fuel economy as well.
- Check Your Battery. Unless you want to risk getting caught with a dead battery, it’s a good idea to have it checked by a professional. Routine battery care is relatively easy. Be sure to wear rubber gloves and eye protection in case of leaks. Clean the surfaces, remove corrosion, check the fluid level if possible, and retighten the connections. If you spot problems, don’t risk it. Just replace the battery.
- Take Care of Routine Maintenance. Be sure you’re keeping up to date with routine maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations. Missing the routine stuff will hurt you and your wallet in the end!
